If I register a domain through Nameway®, will I be listed as its owner?

Any public domain registration that you purchase through us is owned by you. Nameway®, Australia. is the registrar that is used to register the domain on your behalf.

If you have your own account, the domain management control panel offers you the ability to update contact fields for the domain at will, set up e-mail, configure third level domains, change its name servers (DNS), use the website builder tool, and much more. Using our domain name manager is a free service, giving you total control of your domain name.

I sold my domain, how do I move the domain to their Nameway® account?

The easiest way to change ownership of a domain, is to push the domain into their Nameway® account. If they do not have an account, they can open one. There is no charge to open an account, and no charge to push a domain to another login name.

New client goes to http://my.nameway.com and creates a new account. Credit card information is NOT required. New client provides you with their new login name (not the password).

Log into your account where the domain currently resides.

Select menu option "domain names", then "push a name".
Click on "DO NOT push the contact information"
Enter the domain name and their login name as instructed.
Click on "submit".

The domain is immediately moved to their account, and the registered owner information will now reflect the data in their account. You no longer have any control over the domain. They may want to change the password on the domain.

Is my billing contact information going to be shown in the whois?

It is an ICANN requirement that the WHOIS contact information be made available to the public. By default the billing contact information displayed will be the contact information for your account.

You can, however, edit the billing contact on individual domains so that it is different from your account information. This can be configured during registration of a domain by clicking the configure button. Use the Auxiliary Billing Contact field to display a different billing contact to the public.

To configure the auxiliary billing contact on a domain that has already been registered:

Log in to your account.

From the menu at the left, select "domain names" and then "my domains".
Click the domain you wish to manage or type the domain name into the box under "Go directly to this domain:"

In the Utilities section at the bottom of the page, click the Contact/WhoIs Information link.

Fill out the appropriate fields for the Auxiliary Billing Contact and click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.

Do I have to put all registrant details in the domain contact fields?

ICANN requires ALL data (name, address, phone, email) for admin and technical contact while only requiring name and address for registrant. We require ALL data for ALL contacts. Willful provision of false or misleading data is grounds for cancellation. Contact details are needed for security reasons.

That said, designation and use of a role contact for name, such as DNS admin, or FOR SALE, is not a material breach of the RA, and therefore acceptable as long as all other fields are in compliance.

There are many reasons for maintaining correct whois data, such as, to protect intellectual property rights, renew and manage domains, prevent abuse (spam) and malicious/illegal conduct (harrassment, child porn, lible, etc.)
The bottom line is that when we get a complaint we are contractually required to investigate and take "reasonable" steps to ensure data is either legit, or if not, then it is corrected...especially when complaint comes from ICANN.
